Silver Ring Splints
We are a South Australian registered provider of silver rings from the Silver Ring Splint Company.
Silver ring splints are attractive solutions to long term joint deformities such as Swan Neck, Boutonniere deformity & chronic finger joint instability.
Compression gloves & garments
We stock off the shelf lycra compression garments which we source from a local hand therapy supplier in SA.
These gloves are used to help decrease swelling after trauma or operation. And also support unstable joints (osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis).
We also use elasticated bandages and wraps to help manage swelling following hand or arm injury or operation.
And we are trained and experienced in measuring for custom made compression garments for use in scar management following burns or to manage hypertrophic or keloid scars.
We use primarily use non-rigid (stretchy) tapes and apply with aim to protect injured or unstable structures during use of the hand / arm.
Commonly we will tape following a period of time immobilised in a splint; to provide some support in early and light functional use of the hand. For example following Mallet finger or Skiers thumb.
Taping to off-load muscles or tendons is also common, for example in tennis elbow and De Quervains tenosynovitis.
For prevention of injury during sport, rigid taping techniques provide more stability. Correct application of tape is important, particularly to prevent adjacent joints being overloaded and injured.
Our therapist is trained to choose and apply different tapes depending upon the need.
